We offer workshops for parents, organizations, and groups to help reduce the stigma of mental health treatment in English and Spanish. We teach groups how to identify healthy coping skills, access to mental health services, and strengthen self care practices. These workshops serve as open forums where people can safely address issues of stigma and shame as well as to learn how these beliefs have perpetuated violence and stress. By sharing resources, empathy, and encouragement, the workshops help people access the support they need from resources available to them. Through this process, groups become more trusting, caring and receptive to one another in overcoming emotional challenges.
Claudia’s organizational workshops are informed by the writings of Paolo Freire, the poetry and teachings of June Jordan, Theater of the Oppressed by Agosto Boal, the community work of Richard Valle, as well as the native healing practices of Colombia and her family’s legacy of creative expression as liberation. She is also inspired by the ongoing community organizing of creative people and social justice workers all over the world who work to imagine and work towards more just, creative, and compassionate communities.
Workshops for organizations include Mental Health education for self preservation, Expressive arts therapy, Restorative Justice, and guided meditations based on liberation.
Clients include United We Dream, The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, the Broad museum, the Los Angeles Zoo, and Tri-CED Community Recycling.
